Acacia Tree

My name is Mariia, i`m 15 y.o, from Ukraine. I am a fan of theatre, like playing guitar and a little bit piano. I also like to read Agatha Christie`s books and comics. I currently try to learn how to sew and crochet, but i`m not really successful at these. My favourite school subjects are language-related, and my least favourite are math-related. I love adventures and spending time fun. I like to play volleyball in the summer, go to the local beach and eat watermelons. In winter i go ice skating with my friends, or we just play computer games while staying at home. I would love to get to know other cultures and try new things out!

The soil / the need

I am not the person who plays in theatres, but i am really into it. I consider every play an art and to be frank, i am the first one in my family who got interested in this kind of thing. When i watch a play i feel a real tension, i can understand what the author wanted to tell through this performance. When i first went to the theatre, i was about 7 years at that time. I didn`t like it at that time, because it felt like an obligation to understand something, and i didn`t. After about 5 years i decided to go back to theatre and watch a play again. It was really fascinating. After that moment i started going to theatre few times in a month, spending half of my monthly allowance.
When i discovered theatre, i was trying to find a place in this world which would be the best for me. I didn`t have much friends at that time and i wanted to self-improve and be an interesting person for my surroundings. After some watched plays i found something i was looking for. Actors were quietly bringing up serious issues during spectacle and i thought about it for a while. For me – theatre is not only an entertainment but also an interesting way to understand today`s world issues.

Tell us about that first spark

I sure do, it was around two years ago when i for the first time in my life understood the point which author tried to tell the viewer, which was kind of shocking for me, especially when i was the only one among my friends who understood what the performance was about.

Roots (people & experiences that shaped your path)

In my opinion, everything said was important for me. Mostly i was interested in what the actor tried to tell us, what the point of spectacle is, but also i visited some theatres in different regions of Ukraine, to understand, if there is anything different between them. And frankly, the architecture is different, but performances are similar. I think it`s because the problematics given in present spectacles are so important, that authors try to make us, viewers, acknowledged of this situation. People also are important, my first watched play was with my mom, my second with my friends and the rest i was mostly alone, but i was so interested in the play that i didn`t feel sad about it. I would love to meet people who are also interested in this acting world.

Yes, sometimes

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Why?

Definitely acacia. This tree is not as known as birch or oak but it is actually really unique, and people who are interested in unique trees would love it. I can consider myself not the loudest in social fields, but also not the quite one. Many people told me that i am nice and the would love to get to know me better, even though they didn`t like me at the beginning.
