🇪🇺 TEEN European Digital Community: Maple Tree from Lviv, Ukraine
Ukraine
Maple Tree
An active girl from Lviv, Ukraine. I love music, movies, and, of course, theatre. I’m really crafty, so there is always a million handmade projects in my room! I love travelling, especially discovering art and culture of different places. I dream to become a culturologist, so I can not only create professionally, but also consume mindfully. My favourite music genres are rock, punk-rock and art-pop. My favourite movie is “The life of David Gale”, but I also love “Heathers”, both the movie and the musical so much! I have two cute cats and am graduating school really soon, so I hope to become even more active in new artsy communities soon.
The soil / the need
Probably a way to express and share. Watching people live on a stage is much more intimate than watching movies.
The first seed
Social media / online content
Tell us about that first spark
First I was interested in movies. “The dead poets society” made a first spark when the main character showed me how sacred theatre was to him. Then “Heathers the Musical” fulfilled my need in senses, humour and moral dilemma. The final touch was the “Ти (Романтика)” musical, a story about Ukrainian poets of 20th century, showing that you can truly do anything.
Roots (people & experiences that shaped your path)
Probably my sister. She is the one who invites me to the theatre and discusses it with me. Of course, Lviv’s opera theatre was also important, because it’s one of the most beautiful buildings in the whole city, bringing culture close to people.
The trunk (what keeps you in theatre)
Social media! It’s much easier to be present online, then to be regular at the theatre in person.
Branches (future / desire)
I hope to start visiting theatre in person much more often. I would really love to get into classics, but even more – into the underground and local scenes in my city. And as far as I know now, there is so much to discover.
Are you currently involved in cultural activities?
Yes, regularly
If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Why?
A maple. Sharp edges on the leaves would show how dedicated and straightforward I am. My roots grow strong, because I know that I can trust my ground. It’s a popular tree in my city, so I associate a lot of my childhood with maples. Also, I often dye my hair red, so I even look like one.
