🇪🇺 TEEN European Digital Community: Palm in the Wind from Lviv, Ukraine

Palm in the Wind

I’m Tina, a curious mind with a passion for culture, inclusion, and turning ideas into action. I thrive when creating, connecting, and inspiring others — whether it’s co-leading grant-funded youth projects, running workshops, or making small communities come alive. I believe potential is everywhere; it just needs space, courage, and someone to nudge it forward. I’m constantly exploring how creativity, dialogue, and collaboration can transform ideas into real impact. Fun fact: I can turn almost any ordinary object into a tiny piece of art, and I love making people feel seen while laughing along the way.

The soil / the need

My path toward theatre began before I even understood what theatre was. I remember sitting in a small school hall, watching my older sister perform in a Ukrainian play. The stage was simple, the lights too bright, the costumes handmade — but to me, it felt enormous. I wasn’t just watching her; I was watching someone transform. At that moment, I think what I was missing was courage. I was younger, quieter, observing the world from the edges. Watching her on stage made me realize that expression could be brave. Theatre became a bridge between generations, between culture and identity, between fear and visibility.

The first seed

A festival / event.

Tell us about that first spark

The first spark was unexpected: it came when my favorite anime was adapted into live action. I was skeptical at first, but when I watched it, something clicked. I realized that what moved me wasn’t the costumes or effects — it was the actors’ ability to embody characters I thought only drawings could hold. A gesture, a pause, a look could carry an entire inner world. That was the first time I understood that performance is transformation, and that imagination doesn’t disappear when something becomes “real” — it simply changes form.

Roots (people & experiences that shaped your path)

The roots of my journey are not just specific teachers or performances, but the people and the atmosphere created together. What shaped me most was seeing how theatre changes the way people communicate — making us more attentive, honest, and vulnerable. I’m deeply inspired by the sense of building something temporary yet unforgettable. The late conversations after rehearsals, the nervous laughter before going on stage, the quiet support in someone’s eyes — these moments taught me that theatre is not only about acting, but about how we choose to stand next to each other.

The trunk (what keeps you in theatre)

I’m not constantly inside theatre spaces yet, but I am circling around them and building my own way in. What keeps me connected is creation: I sew, design small pieces of jewelry, and love transforming simple materials into something expressive and personal. For me, this feels very close to theatre — fabric, texture, and detail can build identity. I’m fascinated by how costume and objects can shape posture, energy, and character. I also feel a quiet pull toward acting, and I’m curious about stepping fully into a role one day.

Branches (future / desire)

In the future, I imagine theatre as a space of experimentation. I would like to try acting seriously — not only as a dream, but as a real attempt. I want theatre to be a laboratory of courage: a place to test my limits, discover new parts of myself, and grow through creative discipline. I don’t yet know if it will become my profession, but I know I want it to remain part of my life as something transformative, alive, and communal.

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Why?

A palm tree. Palms grow in strong sun and constant wind, yet they don’t break — they bend. I see myself as adaptable and resilient, able to move with change rather than resist it. From the outside, a palm can look light and effortless, but its roots are deep enough to survive storms. I try to be the same: energetic and open, but grounded — and I hope to bring warmth and connection into creative communities.
