Sakura of Gentle Strength
I am a passionate young theatre enthusiast from Ukraine, curious about how art can connect people and inspire change. My journey began with a Christmas play where I played the Virgin Mary — a role that showed me how theatre can touch hearts and create meaningful shared experiences. Beyond theatre, I play volleyball, study violin, enjoy chess, and love learning languages. I’m driven by curiosity, empathy, and the desire to create experiences that leave a lasting impact on others.
The soil / the need
When I first got closer to theatre, I was looking for a space where emotions could exist freely. As a teenager, I often felt a lot but didn’t always have the language or confidence to express it. Theatre felt like a place where vulnerability was not weakness, but strength. I was also searching for real connection — a space where imagination and reality could meet.
The first seed

Tell us about that first spark
The first moment theatre became truly important for me was a Christmas performance at my Baptist church, where I played the Virgin Mary. At first I was nervous, but once I stepped on stage, the atmosphere felt quiet and almost sacred. I wasn’t just saying lines — I was trying to embody tenderness, strength, and faith. In that moment, I understood that theatre is not about pretending, but about responsibility and emotional truth.
Roots (people & experiences that shaped your path)
My church community gave me space to grow and trust. My school also shaped me deeply: as a school president, I learned how to create spaces where young people feel heard and involved, which strengthened my sense of presence and communication. Music (especially violin) taught me rhythm, silence, and emotional nuance. International exchange experiences broadened my perspective and showed me how art connects people beyond language.
The trunk (what keeps you in theatre)
What keeps me connected is the feeling of aliveness. Theatre is one of the few places where emotions, silence, tension, and joy become fully real in the present moment. It challenges me, builds discipline, and creates rare trust between people working together toward one shared experience.
Branches (future / desire)
I imagine theatre not only as a stage, but as a tool — something that will remain part of how I communicate, lead, and build communities. I want it to help me grow in courage, empathy, and collaboration, and to become a space where art, dialogue, and youth engagement can meet.
If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Why?
A sakura tree. Its beauty is gentle but powerful, and even though it blooms for a short time, it transforms the whole landscape. I relate to that temporary but lasting emotional impact — just like theatre.
