I am the owner and designer of the Ukrainian brand kateveta_beadwork. My creative journey is incredibly diverse: I have a background in violin and theatre, and I spent years exploring various dance styles. At my lyceum, I took on a leadership role as the head of the dance formation, which taught me how to manage creative processes and people. Today, I combine these skills by organizing and producing showcases for my own brand of handmade beaded art. I am also deeply interested in history, art, and travel, as they provide fresh inspiration for my designs. For me, theatre and the stage are spaces for professional inspiration and cultural diplomacy. I aim to continue developing my brand, using my multidisciplinary background to create something unique and meaningful.

The soil / the need

My ‘soil’ is a blend of performance experience and a deep appreciation for theatrical art. During my time at the lyceum, I was actively involved in various productions, where I took on the roles of both the narrator and different characters. Another significant part of my journey was performing in ballet scenes, which taught me how to express emotions through movement and discipline. At that time, I was looking for a way to better understand the language of art and emotion. This experience helped me become a spectator who deeply feels every performance, understands the work of the performers, and seeks inspiration and new meanings in the theatre.

Tell us about that first spark

My journey began when I was a little girl. My parents took me to see the ballet ‘Swan Lake’ at the theatre. That was the exact moment I fell in love with both theatre and ballet. This ‘spark’ ignited a lifelong appreciation for performance and classical art.

Roots (people & experiences that shaped your path)

My parents, who first introduced me to the world of theatre, have been the most important part of my journey. My path was also shaped by my experiences at the lyceum, where I performed as a narrator and played roles in four different plays. Additionally, my participation in ballet performances was a key experience that helped me understand the stage through movement and discipline.

The trunk (what keeps you in theatre)

My connection to the theatre is driven by my passion for creativity and cultural diplomacy. Although I am not a theatre actor by profession, I frequently participate in various creative contests and showcases. For me, the stage is a powerful tool for communication and diplomacy, which is incredibly relevant today. I find immense inspiration in watching performances, as they fuel my own creative work and help me understand the art of presenting ideas to the world.

Branches (future / desire)

In the future, I want to use the insights I gain from the theatre to professionally develop my creative brand. I see the theatre as a source of inspiration for my designs and a place to learn cultural diplomacy, which is essential for presenting my work internationally. I hope to remain an active part of this environment, using the emotional depth and storytelling techniques of the stage to help my own creative business grow and reach new people.

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Why?

I would be a Cherry Blossom (Sakura) tree. To me, it represents the delicate beauty of handmade art and the importance of the right moment. Just as its blossoms are unique and require care, my creative work is about capturing a specific emotion and sharing it with the world. It’s a tree that inspires people to stop and appreciate the beauty of the present, which is exactly what I try to do through my crafts.
