🇪🇺 TEEN European Digital Community: Young Baobab from Berlin, Germany

Germany

Young Baobab

Hi! I’m Viktoriia, I’m 17 and I study in Berlin. I love drawing, experimenting with different print techniques, singing, and exploring theatre. I lead an art club for children with disabilities, where we create, laugh, and learn together, and I also sing in the Berliner Mädchenchor, where I’ve learned a lot about teamwork and the power of collective creation. I moved to Germany four years ago, so I know what it feels like to be new and to search for your place. I’m curious, creative, and excited to connect with other young people through art, music, and performance.

The soil / the need

When I first got closer to theatre, it was pure curiosity that drove me. I wanted to explore emotions and see how stories come alive — like young shoots in a forest, growing and leaning on each other.

The first seed

Social media / online content.

Tell us about that first spark

The first spark came when my mom took me to the sea as a child. I was around 7–8 years old and I didn’t fully understand what was happening, but I felt curious — and I sensed it was something worth paying attention to.

Roots (people & experiences that shaped your path)

My mom, the theatre in Berlin (Staatsoper Unter den Linden), and theatres in my home country in Odesa and Kyiv have all been important roots in my journey.

The trunk (what keeps you in theatre)

The stories and the actors keep me in theatre — especially their energy and the way stories come alive in front of you. That living presence makes me want to keep going.

Branches (future / desire)

I see theatre as a place to explore my art and music and to try new ways of storytelling. I hope it helps me grow as an artist, connect more deeply with people through creativity, and gain new skills and ideas for my own projects. I also want to inspire others — especially young people — to find their voice through art and performance.

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Why?

A baobab tree.
