During Theater Na de Dam, more than 130 performances are staged simultaneously each year, each relating in its own way to the Second World War. In all these places across the country, we are connected independently of each other in the same ritual.
Under the guidance of theatre makers Hugo de Graaf and Eva Benjamins, young people from Amsterdam immersed themselves in the history of Amsterdam during the Second World War. They spoke with older people about what it was like to be young during wartime. These conversations, full of memories and stories, together with other source material, form the basis of the performance Ik wist dat er iets was (I knew something was wrong).
A performance about the gut feeling that something is not right. About the feeling that something is being kept from you, but you don’t know what.
