NARROW SPACES – Karlsruhe, Germany

Haus der Produktionen (House of Productions) - Germany

TEEN’s role in this project

  • Develop the performance collectively from the initial idea
  • Create movements and choreographies based on dialogues and improvisations
  • Independently manage organizational, musical, directorial, and promotional aspects
  • Define the project’s content based on their personal experiences and perspectives
  • Perform in the final show

Peculiarity

An exceptional example of co-creation where a group of young adults self-managed and shaped a theatrical project in every phase. The work is almost entirely based on their improvisations, reflections, and dialogue, transforming personal and social experiences into a powerful show.

Project description

“Narrow Spaces” is a performance that addresses the themes of space, borders, and oppression. Developed by a group of young adults between 18 and 23 years old, the project analyzes the role of power dynamics in limiting the freedom of movement of specific social and cultural groups. The creative process focused on creating an equal and safe workspace, where performers could explore and transform their personal experiences into a performative language. Guided by a dramaturg and supported by two theatrical institutions, the participants worked almost exclusively through improvisation, allowing scenes to emerge from their shared reflections.
