Peculiarity
A model of curation and selection where young people are not just participants but become the “faces” of the institution for their community. The project empowers them, giving them an active role in programming, promoting, and making the theater’s cultural offerings accessible, bridging the gap between the professional art world and their peers.
Project description
The “Schuurjongeren” (Schuur youth) are the group of young ambassadors for the De Schuur theater and film house. Meeting monthly, this group of passionate young people organizes events, moderates discussions with artists, and creates social media content with the goal of making the venue and the professional art world more accessible and welcoming for their peers. The program offers them in-depth workshops to acquire useful skills, such as moderation and video-making, and the opportunity to occasionally participate in professional performances. They have become an indispensable part of the theater, helping to build a lasting relationship between the institution and new generations.
