TEEN Travels to Krokusfestival 2019

Join us at Cultuurcentrum Hasselt in Belgium

We will be hosting a TEEN Kitchen Table on Sunday 3rd March at Krokusfestival. Join us between 10:30am and 12:30pm in Meeting Room 4 of Cultuurcentrum Hasselt.

After the experience of the first TEEN project, the new Teenage Ambassadors Across Europe European cooperation project aims to develop a sustainable, inclusive audience engagement methodology. Over the next two years, the six partners will host numerous Co-Programming Workshops and ‘TEEN Kitchen Table Meetings’ across eleven festivals.

The stakeholders involved in this work are:

  • Teenage audience members with an active involvement in the Theatre experience,
  • Programmers from the Performing Arts field and,
  • A group of engaged Teachers to facilitate reflections on the school system and the role it plays in guiding the teenagers’ cultural experiences.

The TEEN Kitchen Table Meeting format, developed during the original TEEN project, will see Teenagers facilitating a discussion and sharing their ideas and points of view about Theatre. It allows Teenagers, Artistic Directors, Artists, Playwrights, and Teachers to engage together in a unique and innovative way that stimulates a dialogue.

The Teenage participants in the project will be called ‘Teenage Ambassadors’. We hope that these Teenagers, already actively involved in Theatre, will encourage their peers to performances in a way that Teachers, Parents, and Artistic Directors may have failed to in the past. They will also be Ambassadors in a different sense – they will be responsible for representing their peers in discussions with the Artistic Directors about what they want to see on stage.

Teenage Ambassadors Across Europe is funded by Creative Europe. The project partners are Segni d’infanzia (Italy), Teatercentrum inDenmark, Norsk Scenekunstbruk (Norway), Cultuurcentrum Hasselt (Belgium), “la Caixa” Foundation (Spain), and Dialogue – The Community Performance Network (United Kingdom).
